Redesigning a room in a house takes a lot of effort and attention to details. One of the most sought after details is the crystal chandelier. But actually hanging it may prove more difficult than people imagine. Not because it's hard, but because it takes a bit more effort than your usual light bulb.

When hanging your chandelier, the general rule is that the bottom of it should hang between 30 and 36 inches above your table top. When you prepare to hang it, always be safe and have a ladder and someone to hold it steady for you. Let them help you gauge how high or low the chandelier should hang. The easiest way to figure these things out is to just look at them and figure out what feels right.

The most important thing overall is that your crystal chandelier hangs low enough to properly light the dining room but doesn't interfere with the sight line of those dining. Once your chandelier is hung, test it out when the room gets dark to make sure it does just that. Getting a crystal chandelier can be exciting. But you don't want to rush out and buy the first beautiful chandelier you see, only to realize it doesn't fit in your room. You also don't want to get one that's size doesn't work with your room. A huge room and a very tiny chandelier is going to look pretty funny. There are a few guidelines you should follow for size. If the room is up to 10' by 10', a chandelier no bigger than 20 inches will work well. For 12' by 12', a 26 to 27 inch chandelier will look good, and a 14' by 14' room will look just fine with anything from 24 to 36 inches.

If you are hanging a chandelier over a dining room table, it should be 12 inches narrower than the width of the table, or else it will look awkward.

Follow these measurements and your crystal chandelier will look perfect, both in beauty and in size. All it takes is a little extra effort, but the benefits you get from having a crystal chandelier in your home obviously outweigh that little attention to details in the installation. Finding the right chandelier for your home could make every hosting event you have an incredible one. So make sure you take the time to find out which one is the right chandelier for you.
