In the past five years, we have experienced some form of photographic boom. With technological advances, cameras like the Canon Digital cameras and accessories that used to cost much like the Nikon camera battery now cost as little as any other small scale gadget. What this has done is give rise to the creativity of millions who always wanted to take up photography as something that's a bit more than a hobby, but could not because the equipment cost too much.

Now, every person can go out and buy himself (or herself) a professional grade camera with all the camera battery replacements and other accessories and get high quality footage. But the productivity surge does not stop there. With social networks becoming the go-to spot for all communications, many photographers-to-be can immediately post their photos onto social networks and get immediate feedback. This results in a quick learning curve for the inspiring artists and can result in social network success if a picture is shared enough times. Just how exactly did we get to this point? It can all be explained with digital memory cards. Digital memory cards have seen a drop in price that is symbolic to what the industry has experienced in general. They have gone up in capacity while going dropping in price. This has exposed an entirely new audience to the product and allowed for the explosion of experimental photography all over the online world.

In addition to digital memory cards and compact flash cards, there has also been an increase in the online sales of other products like inkjet photo paper, which despite printing the "old" versions of hard copies it is still important to many who wish to have their newly discovered talent hang on walls or their office cubicle. Where will the industry go from here? Well, from the latest CNET convention, where all the latest gadgets and tech trends emerge, it seems that connectivity and the flow of these photos to and from the cloud will be the next big thing. Perhaps cameras that are connected to the cloud and can instantly send your picture to the social networks are the next big thing. Some companies are already offering these products, but the high end cameras are still not connected. We'll wait and see because when that does happen, we will witness a new form of connected creativity that we have never experienced before.
