New Home? New Wood Doors

We had just moved in to a new place and we were happy to get settled in when we noticed something awful. The doors in this place were all rotting. The wood was gross and the hinges made a disgusting noise when you opened or closed the doors. It seemed like a complete disaster and for a couple of days it was. We immediately got to work finding replacements for every door in the house. At first we thought we would only replace wood doors that were most affected by the wear and tear of age. But after some inspection plus some digging for great deals on French doors we decided we would start our new life in our new home completely fresh.

Putting solid wood doors up is easy too! All you need is a power screw driver and the right hinges! When we got to looking at our new interior doors and exterior doors we were so proud of our choices. Each door has its own personality while honoring the personality of the house that we were hoping to cultivate. It is amazing how much putting on some brand new entry doors can make a place seem brand new. We loved the place when we decided to move in but once we made these renovations it truly felt like it belonged to us.

Doors can really make a home. I recall in my youth not actually having a door for some time. When I finally got a solid wood door on my bedroom it changed everything for me. I was happy to have my own space and I was also glad that I now had a door that matched the rest that lined the hallway. I also loved just being able to take that mahogany door and slam it closed, keeping me and my private time away from the prying eyes of my family.

As an adult I think of wood entry doors differently. They are no longer a way to keep my family out, now they are a way in. My family loves our new house with its interior French doors on every room. We are so happy to be living in such a great place. And we are really happy to have unloaded all of those rotting nasty wood doors. Now that we live in a place with some well crafted wood doors we plan to stay put for a while!
