When I was younger I loved paper. I would draw and draw all the live long day (doo da) and my parents would just provide me with ream after ream of paper. I guess they realized throwing a few pounds of paper at me would keep me happy, quiet and off the street. Back when I was a kid, keeping kids off the street was the thing to do. It still is! Whenever I see a child with a burgeoning imagination and even a small modicum of skill, I start to think how can we get this kid a few pounds of heavy weight paper or even just a roll of cheap paper. Specialty paper made my youth bearable, I can't imagine that it could not do the same for the right kind of kid today.

Lucky for the youth, with the increased availability of home computers and in house printers printable paper seems to be in most homes these days. It is a good gateway drug to more "hardcore" sorts of specialty paper. Before you know it, your kid will be addicted to making pictures. Custom paper sizes will become a frequent topic of conversations. Your child may praise the smell of specific crayons or the scent of stock premium paper. You should not worry about any of these things. These are signs that your child is rabidly creative and has finally found an outlet. You might want to consider looking for a bulk paper supplier though, this could get expensive otherwise.

This upbringing could make your son or daughter into a world class artist, a graphic designer, a cartoonist or perhaps just a normal well adjusted adult with a paper specialty. You might call these people "Heavyweight Paper Champions." You'd be right. There is something a person gets out of paper, the physical representation of what is in one's head. That can be a very powerful tool. It is a tool that is even more powerful relative inversely to a sense of a lack of real world power and actual responsibilities for how things in the world go. In other words it is perfect for a child who can often feel guided more by the whims of his or her parents and the world than their own free will. These children in particular can use the freedom of unadulterated (indeed un-adult) personal expression. In a lot of ways that specialty paper is the only thing standing between them and a complete lack of self reliance.
