The goal of life is to reproduce, to allow our genes to continue in the world, and ideally, to have our children better off than ourselves. This article is about how to achieve that. I can't guarantee anything, but chances are if you follow these steps, your child will be pretty intelligent.

1. Eat Fish: While you're pregnant, what you eat makes a difference. Fresh fish high in omega-3 fatty acid is ideal for building your baby's brain. Be careful of tuna and other fish that tend to have mercury as they can result in autism.

2. Read to Baby: The sound of your voice is a great developmental aide to your baby. It is what he will become most familiar with during childhood, and so it is important to constantly talk to your baby. Read Shakespeare, Joyce and other poetry to him so that not only will he absorb the intricacies of language faster, but he will become more exposed to high literature so that when the time comes, he will be ready to read it on his own.

3. Play Baby Music: Similarly, classical music such as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Handel, Schubert and others will help your baby develop faster. Complex jazz also works. Because the visual sense tends to overpower small babies, a focus on the other senses allows for more well-rounded growth.

4. Breastfeed: There are many necessary vitamins in breast milk that are not in baby formula. Plus the intimate touching between mother and child speeds your child's emotional development. Two years is a good amount of time to breastfeed.

5. Sleep: Babies need lots of sleep, at least 16 hours a day. It's best to lay babies on their back, but be careful to note baby flat head syndrome. Their unformed craniums are still soft and positional plagiocephaly can result in a misshapen head, or one of your baby's ears lower than the other. If you see signs of positional plagiocephaly, contact your pediatrician about a baby helmet immediately.

6. Exposure: You want your child to have a lot of experience, so bring him everywhere you go. Introduce him to people, especially other children his own age, and register him in a daycare to get him used to being away from you. It may be hard at first, but it's for his own benefit.

7. Stimulate the Right Brain: Left-handed people access this part of their brain with greater ease, but babies have equal access to both sides. Playing with and teaching your baby everything you can during the first six months of their life will help them develop their entire brain.

Follow these steps, love your baby, and watch him grow into the next Einstein!
